X-FAB expands silicon-based microfluidics offerings
The company can now provide a variety of process capabilities for silicon-based microfluidic systems. In combination with X-FAB’s standardized foundry approach, the new capabilities will remove barriers to entry and shorten development cycles.
X-FAB has already invested $25 million in microfluidic capabilities over the last 5 years. The company has performed many projects for customers, including lab-on-a-chip, DNA sequencing and synthesis and cancer diagnostics applications. The projects have given the company experience in areas like noble metal processing, high aspect-ratio deep reactive ion-etching (DRIE) and the deposition of both organic and inorganic materials, as well as tailoring the interfaces needed to connect CMOS dies and microfluidics elements.
To outline the full scope of its microfluidics capabilities, X-FAB will be hosting a webinar on the 27th and 28th May.
