The devices offer hosted (nLink) or embedded (WiSeConnect) software architecture with various host interfaces (SDIO, USB, SPI, UART), providing design flexibility. The RS9116 family has an internal protocol arbitration manager to manage the protocols dual band (2.4 and 5GHz) 802.11 a/b/g/n, 802.11j, dual-mode Bluetooth 5 and 802.15.4 for Thread and ZigBee.

The devices offer a unique architecture that provides, what Redpine claims is the industry’s lowest Wi-Fi standby associated power of under 50uA. Multiple levels of security, including FIPS 140-2 and PUF (Physically Unclonable Function), allow the devices to create a highly secure system.

Modules in the series are footprint compatible to allow easy migration. They can be as small as 4.63×7.90mm for single band and 9.1×9.8mm for dual band modules, saving space.
