The new range of devices has been developed for applications that require high-precision measurements of analogue signals, such as temperature, pressure, weight, or flow sensing. The devices will be particularly useful for manufacturing and test and measurement equipment, including sensing or force measuring devices or temperature controllers. RX23E-A MCUs provide better than 0.1% precision without calibration. The devices feature a high level of integration with peripherals for high-precision sensor measurement, computation, control and communications. The integration allows equipment makers to cut their bill-of-materials, save space on the PCB and simplify the overall design of the system.
Dual 24-bit delta-sigma A/D converters provide up to 23-bit effective resolution and feature programmable data rates that range from 7.6-sample/s up to 15,625-ksample/s. The AFE also has other leading-edge features, including offset drift of 10nV/°C, gain drift of 1 ppm/°C and an RMS noise of 30nV (rms). The characteristics of the AFE allow a significant reduction of noise and temperature to provide the extremely low levels needed for manufacturing applications that are required to measure a wide range of sensor data accurately and reliably.
The digital side of the RX23E-A products is based around the advanced RXv2 core. The core has an operating speed of 32MHz and has been designed to offer excellent DSP and FPU (floating-point unit) operations. The MCU also allows adaptive control techniques using temperature data and inverse matrix calculations based on six-axis distortion data. This feature makes the devices ideal for robot-arm force sensors in industrial manufacturing applications.
