The Arduino Portenta series has been developed to provide low-power boards that are intended for industrial applications, AI edge processing and robotics. The boards also introduce a new standard for a high-density interconnect required by advanced peripherals.
The Arduino Portenta H7 module is the first member of the family to be launched. It has everything required to start IoT hardware development, including a crypto-authentication chip and communications support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, LTE and Narrowband IoT. The board is intended to be a low-code application development platform that uses modular hardware, allowing the building of products without lengthy integration projects. The board also provides easy access to the new Arduino IoT application development platform (Arduino IoT cloud, Pro IDE with cloud integration, IoT UI editor) for easier creation and deployment of custom connected products.
For connectivity, the onboard wireless module allows simultaneous WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The WiFi interface can be operated as an Access Point, a Station or as a dual mode simultaneous AP/STA and can handle up to 65 Mbps transfer rate. Bluetooth interface supports Bluetooth Classic and BLE.
