New appointment to boost IoT business for TT Electronics
TT Electronics has announced the appointment of Steve Carr as VP of Sales and Marketing for the company’s IoT Solutions business unit (formerly Stadium Group).

The IoT Solutions business unit provides design and manufacturing capabilities in wireless connectivity, power supplies and HMI technologies, as well as electronics assembly services in the UK, Sweden and China.

TT Electronics hopes the new position will provide business opportunities and drive growth for the company in the global IoT market, which is forecast to reach $745 billion in 2019 and surpass the $1 trillion mark by 2022, according to analyst IDC.

Steve was most recently employed as Global Head of Marketing at Premier Farnell, focussing on AI, machine learning and neural networks for IoT, as well as a member of Farnell’s IoT Council. Steve was also VP of the Technology Product Group, responsible for the design and manufacturing organisation, and for marketing new technologies across multiple geographies including in China and North America, with a strong IoT orientation. He also worked with the Raspberry Pi Foundation and BBC micro:bit to launch the popular single board computers, and established a programme to build early stage design development kits for industrial IoT solutions.

Steve’s former roles in electronics distribution include five years as VP Engineering and Vertical Markets EMEA at Future Electronics, and a 10-year period as Managing Director at Acal Technology.

For the past two years, Steve has also been a partner and mentor at Startupbootcamp IoT, an acceleration programme designed to make the journey of building a connected hardware start-up clearer, shorter, and more successful for entrepreneurs.
