Mouser has signed a global distribution agreement with Sony that will see the company distribute Spresense development boards for edge computing solutions.

The Sony Spresense high-performance development boards allow the speedy creation of solutions for a wide range of implementation areas. The Spresense Main Board is built around Sony’s CXD5602 multicore MCU with GPS functionality. The Arduino-compatible board is small and flexible. It can be used as a standalone device or with an extension board. The Main Board supports applications such as high-performance drones, time-lapse cameras, and smart speakers. The Extension Board adds features and hardware connectivity to the Main Board, including Arduino Uno-compatible headers, a micro-SD card slot, extra USB port, and 3.5-mm headphone jack.

The Spresense Camera Board also extends the Main Board with a small, high-resolution 5 megapixel camera. The Camera Board uses the ISX012 Image Sensor by Sony, and its onboard encoder supports JPEG, RAW, Y/C, and RGB formats. The Camera Board can be used with the AI capabilities of the Main Board for advanced vision capabilities.
