Micro-stepping motor driver IC features current sensing

By eeNews Europe

The TC78H670FTG has been developed to drive a micro-stepping motor of up to 128 steps. It features a voltage ranging from 2.5 V to 16 V at currents of up to 2 A. RDS(ON) is 0.48Ω as the device uses Toshiba’s latest CDMOS process. The TC78H670FTG features an ultra-low standby current of just 0.1 µA and has the ability to operate with a 1.8 V to 5.0 V interface. The device can be USB powered and battery-powered as well as operating on a standard 9-12V system.

TC78H670FTG incorporates safety features, including overcurrent detection, thermal shut down and open-load detection. The motor driver is housed in a compact QFN16 package with a footprint of just 3 mm x 3 mm.
