GCF certifies u-blox UBX-R5 IoT chipset
UBX-R5 has become the first IoT chipset that has been certified under GCF’s IoT chipset program. The chipset was released in January this year. The program will certify IoT chipsets that use NB-IoT and LTE-M to allow the easy integration of certified chipsets into modules and devices.
u-blox UBX-R5 is a 5G-ready cellular chipset for LPWA mission-critical or long life-cycle IoT applications. 5G readiness is becoming a key factor in selecting cellular communication modules. By implementing key LTE-M and NB-IoT features from 3GPP Release 14, the UBX-R5 chipset provides a smooth transition towards 5G through software upgrades to deployed devices.
