Force sensitive sensor brings extra functionality to mobile devices
Peratech has introduced a distributed force array (DFA) touch sensor that will allow users of touch devices to navigate menus and perform operations with a single-finger touch.

The sensor incorporates the company’s quantum tunnelling composite (QTC) technology to provide an array of single point sensors that are sued along with a position sensor to correlate force and position. The DFA sensor also incorporates haptic feedback that activates when force reaches a pre-selected activation point. In multi-touch applications, the DFA’s proportional force sensing feature can determine the ratio of forces between presses.

The DFA sensors are supplied with control electronics and software.
