The module has been built on the company’s UBX-R5 cellular chipset and M8 GNSS receiver chip to provide end-to-end security and long product availability. It has a lightweight pre-shared key (PSK) management system for IoT applications, as well as an additional set of security features.
SARA-R5 has two product variants. SARA-R511M features a built-in u-blox M8 GNSS receiver with a chip-down design that includes a dedicated GNSS antenna interface that can run in parallel with a cellular connection.
SARA-R510M has been designed for the lowest power consumption, drawing less than 1 mA of current in power save mode, making it ideal for battery-powered applications.
