New Evaluation Kit Facilitates Drone Flight Control Designs
The evaluation kit comes with sample firmware to help designers evaluate sensor performance during flight and to speed the development of drones.
The ST STEVAL-FCU001V1 is powered by an Arm Cortex-M4 based STM32F401. The board also contains an SPBTLE-RF0 module with BLE 4.1 connectivity, and an STC4054 800mA Li-ion/lithium polymer battery-charger chip. The board can be controlled through Bluetooth from a phone or tablet, or by connecting an RF receiver to the PWM inputs of the board to use a standard remote controller.
The evaluation kit also features a variety of sensors, including the ST LSM6DSL iNEMO inertial module with low-power digital accelerometer and gyroscope, ST’s LIS2MDL magnetometer and its LPS22HD MEMS pressure sensor. Four brushed DC motors can be driven by STL6N3LLH6 STripFET H6 Power MOSFETs or brushless DC (BLDC) motors can be driven through an electronic speed-control unit. The board also has a number of expandability and debug options, including SWD, I2C and USART interfaces.
