US edge AI startup Eta Compute has raised $12.5m in a series C round of funding led by Synaptics, and signed a co-development agreement.
The round brings the total funds raised to $31.5m and adds Satish Ganesan, Chief Strategy Officer at Synaptics, to the board of directors.
The co-development and co-marketing partnership gives Eta Compute access to the Synaptics low power Katana multicore edge AI chip and Synaptics access to Eta Compute’s TENSAI Flow software and neural network compilers, models and AI applications.
The joint partnership is also aiming to provide complete audio- and vision-based edge AI systems for smart home consumer IoT markets, and for smart industrial IoT (IIoT) applications in buildings, factories, and cities.

The Tensai endpoint AI platform consists of the ECM3532 neural sensor processor, flow software and neural network compiler. Eta Compute will continue to develop the software platform but is aiming to expand into complete systems.
