New Intel processor takes intelligence to the edge

February 12, 2018 // By Ally Winning
Intel’s Xeon D-2100 processor has been designed for edge, datacentre and networking applications that need higher performance without increasing power consumption or size.

The new processors feature up to 18 “Skylake” generation Intel Xeon cores and Intel QuickAssist Technology with up to 100 Gbps of built-in cryptography, decryption and encryption acceleration. The devices will also have updated software to protect from “Spectre” and “Meltdown” security exploits. Bringing that performance and security to the edge of the network will allow analytics and data protection to be incorporated nearer endpoint devices.

D-2100 processors can be used in communications applications, as well as storage and content delivery.
