The 5G cellular network requires tighter coordination for greater bandwidth and a broader range of services than 4G. It is also required to support sophisticated features such as beam-forming, carrier aggregation, and massive MIMO.
The timing module’s multi-band capability allows it to reduce the timing error under clear skies to under five nanoseconds without help from an external GNSS correction service. The ZED-F9T also features differential timing modes that exchange correction data with other neighbouring GNSS timing receivers through the communication network.
The device is capable of accessing all four satellite constellations to strengthen its global coverage and increase timing availability in challenging signal environments. ZED-F9T combines timing accuracy with security features like secure boot, secure interfaces, and Time-Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (T-RAIM).
The ZED-F9T will allow developers to design single products to serve global markets. The module has a single RF input for all the GNSS bands, an on-board diplexer, and dual SAW filters.
