Mouser now offering high-performance IMU for drones and robotics

December 03, 2018 // By Ally Winning
Mouser has added Bosch Sensortec’s BMI088 high-performance inertial measurement unit (IMU) - a stable, low-noise 6-axis inertial sensor for industrial and harsh-environment drone and robotics applications.

The BMI088 IMU has a 16-bit digital, triaxial accelerometer and a 16-bit digital, triaxial gyroscope for accurate measurement of orientation and motion detection on three orthogonal axes. The device features acceleration ranges from ±3 g to ±24 g and gyroscopic slew rates up to ±2,000 degrees per second (°/s). The BMI088 has vibration-quelling speed and 16-bit accuracy for an ultra-low drift maximum bias drift of 2°/hour. It is compatible with other Bosch sensors such as the BMI085 IMU for simpler integration and is factory calibrated and available in a 3.0 × 4.5 × 0.95 mm package.

The BMI088 shuttle board gives easy access to the sensor's pins through a simple socket. All Bosch Sensortec sensor shuttle boards have identical footprints to interface with the company’s other development tools for flexibility.
