Mouser boosts IoT offering with Onion agreement

By eeNews Europe

The deal will allow Mouser to stock Onion’s integrated wireless microprocessor modules, IoT development kits and accessories. Onion products centre on the Omega2+ expandable SBC, which is just 25% of the size of other boards with similar functionality. The Omega2+ runs Linux, has WiFI, a MicroSD card, a 580 MHz MIPS processor, 128 MByte of DDR2 memory and 32 MByte of Flash. Expandable through 15 GPIO, two PWM and two UART interfaces, the board is intended for home automation, education, media servers, robotics, networking or any other IoT application.

Mouser will also sell supporting expansion options for the Omega2+, including the Expansion Dock to power the Omega2+ and break out its GPIOs. The Expansion Dock will allow the addition of expansion modules, including those for OLED, relays and servos. The Arduino Dock R2 allows the Omega2+ to be added to Arduino-based projects and control the Dock R2’s on-board Atmega MCU.

Users can get quickly started on Omega2+ projects using the Omega2 Starter Kit and Omega2 Maker Kit, which include the Omega2+ board, expansion dock, breadboard, and a variety of components. The Maker kit also adds servos, a DC motor, H-bridge chip, buzzer and three expansion boards.
