Sales data from Mindfactory, reported in HotHardware publication, showed AMD with 45 percent share by units in June, parity with Intel in July and 51 percent market share in August. In September AMD’s share by units went to 65 percent.

AMD’s prices have been trending downwards while Intel’s have been trending upwards, presumably due to undersupply. As a result Intels’ ASPs are higher than AMD’s. As a result the market share in September by value was 52 percent to AMD and 48 percent to Intel, according to HotHardware.

Analysts are now indicating that in the broader processor market AMD could triple its market share from 10 percent to 30 percent in 2019 due to manufacturing problems at Intel.
