ADI joins Siemens IoT system

Analog Devices Inc. (Norwood, Mass.) is collaborating with Siemens AG (Munich, Germany) on developing systems that extend from sensors to the cloud for Siemens' cloud-based Internet of Things operating systems called MindSphere.

MindSphere-ready products from ADI are designed to enable asset tracking, resource utilization optimization, condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance. A key component will be Analog Devices' ADI’s wireless sensor networking technology known as SmartMesh. SmartMesh enables sensors to communicate in IoT environments, via a mesh network protocol.

Analog is adding on top of this a system for secure end-to-end system identification and authentication of electronic hardware as well as a simulation and analysis of cyber operations.

"By collaborating with Siemens in the MindSphere ecosystem, Analog Devices is able to deliver high-performance sensor-to-cloud solutions that give MindSphere customers a competitive edge," said Dzianis Lukashevich, emerging business director at Analog Devices, in a statement.

The MindSphere products are expected to be available from Analog Devices and Siemens in early 2018.
